Description

Our client, a global leader in high-speed automation solutions for the packaging, print, and converting industries is looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer with mechanical design experience within the Automation industry. This is a full time and permanent opportunity at their manufacturing facility located in Concord, On. Salary: 120K - 160K with full benefits.

Responsibilities

New opportunity for a Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the development of custom, high-speed automation systems. This role is ideal for an experienced mechanical engineer with a passion for innovation, strong leadership skills, and deep technical expertise in machine design. You’ll be responsible for managing design projects from concept through to production, working alongside a team of engineers, manufacturing and procurement. You will be driving creative solutions for complex automation challenges, taking machine design to the next level.

  • Lead designs for new equipment development including existing systems evaluation.
  • Conceptualize, model, and detail components and assemblies using AutoCAD and 3D CAD (SolidWorks)
  • Perform engineering calculations (speed, force, torque, temperature, etc.)
  • Evaluate and optimize existing mechanical systems
  • Collaborate in design reviews and cross-functional project planning
  • Mentor and supervise junior designers and engineers
  • Assist with Drawing file system administration and project documentation.
  • Liaison between engineering procurement and manufacturing departments
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of mechanical design experience in automation or machine building
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related field)
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and 3D CAD software; SolidWorks is an asset
  • Well-versed in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance (GD&T)
  • Strong knowledge of pneumatics, servo motors, and machine shop practices
  • Experience with PDM document management systems
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
