Description

We are looking for an experienced Electronics Hardware Engineer for our client, a manufacturer of EV Charging Solutions. The primary responsibility will be the development of electronic schematics and PCB layout for AC and DC electric vehicle (EV) charging systems. This role focuses on transforming system requirements into robust electronic designs, followed by hands-on debugging, testing, and validation. This is an In Office role at the Richmond Hill location. Salary based on experience. Full time, permanent position with full benefits after 3 months. Free on-site parking.

Responsibilities

We are looking for an experienced Electronics Hardware Engineer whose primary responsibility will be the development of electronic schematics and PCB layout for AC and DC electric vehicle (EV) charging systems. This role focuses on transforming system requirements into robust electronic designs, followed by hands-on debugging, testing, and validation

  • Design electronic schematics and perform PCB layout for AC and DC EV charging equipment
  • Develop complete hardware designs from concept to production, including schematic capture and PCB routing based strictly on approved schematics
  • Create multilayer PCB designs using Altium Designer
  • Ensure PCB designs meet electrical, thermal, EMC, and manufacturing requirements
  • Perform hardware bring-up, debugging, and diagnostics on prototype and production boards
  • Work with ARM-based microcontrollers and embedded systems
  • Design and integrate low-voltage DC-DC converters
  • Implement and debug communication interfaces such as UART, SPI, I2C, and CAN
  • Work with ESP32 microcontrollers and peripherals
  • Use laboratory tools such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, logic analyzers, and power supplies
  • Perform manual soldering and board rework, including fine-pitch SMD components
  • Collaborate with firmware, mechanical, and manufacturing teams
  • Support production, testing, and field issue analysis when required
Qualifications
  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field
  • 5+ years of professional experience with Altium Designer
  • Strong hands-on experience in schematic design and PCB layout
  • Solid experience with ARM microcontrollers
  • Practical knowledge of power electronics, especially low-voltage DC-DC converters
  • Experience with embedded communication protocols (UART, SPI, I2C, etc.)
  • Hands-on experience with ESP32 and its peripherals
  • Strong understanding of PCB design best practices (signal integrity, power integrity, EMI/EMC)
