As a Manager of Operations in the Freight Industry based in Montreal, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing and optimizing the day-to-day operational activities of our freight and logistics services. You will be responsible for ensuring efficiency, compliance, and customer satisfaction while working closely with cross-functional teams. AM (6.00 am – 2.00 pm) & PM (12.00 pm – 8.00 pm) roles available. Full time, permanent role. Salary: 85K – 90K + annual bonus. Full benefits after 3 months, RRSP’s. Location: Montreal, Qc.
Responsibilities
Operational Oversight
- Supervise and coordinate daily freight operations to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of goods throughout the province.
- Monitor and optimize routing and scheduling of shipments to maximize efficiency and minimize costs.
- Collaborate with warehouse and transportation teams to streamline processes and enhance overall supply chain performance.
Compliance and Quality Assurance
- Ensure compliance with local and international regulations governing freight and logistics operations
- Implement and maintain quality control measures to meet industry standards and customer expectations
- Conduct regular audits to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions
Team Leadership
- Lead a team of operations staff, providing guidance, support, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
- Conduct regular performance reviews, set goals, and provide training to enhance team capabilities.
- Foster a collaborative and positive working environment.
Customer Relationship Management
- Act as a point of contact for key customers, addressing concerns, and ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction
- Work closely with the sales team to understand customer requirements and align operational strategies accordingly.
Cost Management
- Develop and manage budgets for operational activities, ensuring cost-effectiveness and profitability
- Identify opportunities for cost reduction and implement strategies to optimize operational expenses.
Technology Integration
- Explore and implement technology solutions to enhance operational efficiency, such as transportation management systems (TMS) and tracking tools.
- Stay updated on industry trends and advancements to ensure the company remains competitive.
Qualifications
- Post Secondary education in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of proven experience in a supervisory or management role within the freight and logistics industry (24/7 environment)
- Fully bilingual English and French verbal and written communication skills
- Strong knowledge of freight operations, transportation regulations, and supply chain management.
- Strong management of large volume of LTL operations experience
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in using relevant software and technology for operations management.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
