In this position you will be developing and implementing the organizations risk management program in a manner that fulfills the mission and strategic goals of the organization.

 Responsibilities

  • Develops and implements the organizations risk management program in a manner that fulfills the mission and strategic goals of the organization
  • Supports the management with raising risk awareness and insight (e.g. risk & control self-assessment) and decreasing the risk profile
  • Develops policies and procedures for incident reporting and response
  • Provide independent risk reviews, control adequacy and compliance checks
  • Develops and implements systems, policies and procedures for the identification of risks, and collection, analysis, and reporting of risk related information (e.g. risk indicators)
  • Educates and trains management and staff as to the risk management program, and their respective responsibilities in carrying out the risk management program
  • Leads, facilitates, and advises departments in designing risk management processes within their own departments
  • Assists management and staff in formulating recommendations to reduce risk exposure, and monitors progress of actions taken in response to such recommendations
  • Works on special projects as required to provide guidance and advice on risk and compliance related issues arising from new and proposed business activities

 Qualifications

  • Prior financial industry risk management experience
  • Must have a completed Law Degree
  • Must be fluent in English and French
  • At least 5 years experience in the financial sector
  • Excellent research and organizational skills
  • Ability and comfort in dealing with all levels of staff within an organization, as well as with regulators
  • Strong public speaking/presentation skills
  • Well developed oversight and organizational awareness skills
  • Ability to deal with conflicting points of view and to effect creative and responsive solutions
  • Ability to work independently, think critically and make decisions
  • Good working knowledge of IT applications (e.g. Word, Excel, Access etc.)
  • Possess sound risk identification skills and the ability to balance risks with commercial needs
  • Have 3 - 7 years post-qualification experience in the audit/accounting profession, risk management or operational consulting
