If you are an experienced financial client services representative, this opportunity offers an exciting new step forward in your career. This position is a traineeship that will guide you to become a Pension and Benefits Specialist.

 Responsibilities

  • Main responsibility is to service members in regards to their pension benefit inquiries
  • Provides timely, accurate and complete range of information relating to all entitlements under programs administered
  • Verifies pertinent information and determines best and/or alternative solution
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge and data
  • Uses a variety of presentation media and methods
  • receives and/or assists clients in preparation of all documents mandated by the relevant legislation and/or policies or regulations
  • Completes all documents required for issuing of a pension payment or any other benefit
  • Will be required to gain good knowledge of organization structure, plan history, pension industry overview, legislative and database basics, introduction to pension, disability pensions, died on pension, advanced pensions, conjugal breakdown, refunds and introduction to pre-retirement options, died in service, interprovincial transfers, purchase of credit TPA, etc. 
  • Consistently offers personalized services to complex cases
  • Shares with client the logic and regulations - providing a most complete reply within the parameters of the pertinent legislation, regulations and policies which may sometimes differ from the clients desired solution
  • Discovers the real issue of the clients concerns even if his/hers questions are vague, by asking probing and open ended questions
  • Works diligently on problems for clients including determination of alternative solutions and follows up to ensure action is taken
  • Shares plan information with those who call
  • Responds to clients and makes them aware of alternatives
  • Shares with customers the avenues explored in investigating a problem or coming to a conclusion
  • Returns calls to customer on the same day and at an appointed time
  • Applies extra effort when working with a client who is under stress or confused- by making an extra phone call, following up on delivery of a cheque, etc. Says - I do not know- and sets a specific time to get back to a client once the correct answer is ascertained
  • Is professional and efficient in representing the fund to ensure long time viability
  •  Qualifications

    • University or college degree (relative to the field)
    • Excellent mathematical, organizational, interpersonal and analytical skills
    • Min 3-5 years work experience in a client service environment
    • Previous customer service experience from a financial institution an asset
    • Excellent ability to communicate effectively, both verbal and written
    • Fluent in English and French (verbal and written)
    • Ability to work effectively in a high pressure environment while maintaining a high standard of accuracy and timeliness
    • Flexibility, dependability, tact and diplomacy
