 Responsibilities

  • Execute all employee master data entries for personnel, benefits and payroll administration
  • Control and execute the payroll cycle for approx. 3000 employees (salaried and hourly) with 1000+ residing in Quebec
  • Key contact for Quebec and Atlantic employees regarding payroll and benefit related inquiries
  • Administer pension and benefits plan
  • Process special payments in accordance with the collective agreements
  • Prepare and distribute the benefit/review new hire packages to new employees
  • Conduct periodic audits to validate accuracy of information
  • Create and maintain employee files (active, retirees and terminated)
  • Assist employees with questions in regards to payroll and benefit inquiries
  • Process request for information from various authorities (ROEs)
  • Liaise with the difference providers(Mercer, CIBC Mellon, Royal Trust, etc)
  • Calculate and remit CSST/WSIB employer contributions, Garnishments and Union dues
  • Prepare the organization structure/position change forms
  • Provide finance department with all necessary payroll related reports
  • Perform miscellaneous HR reporting requirements for various stakeholders
    Print and distribute pay stubs
  • Communicate on a regular basis with the HR Managers of each business unit and Corporate HR
  • Assist Corporate HR with various HR programs (annual bonus, salary increases, benefit open enrollment)
  • Collaborate with the HR IT department to implement/test collective agreement changes
  • Administration of Service Awards program
  • Assists with special projects and various initiatives as required

 Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree preferred or an equivalent combination of studies and experience
  • 3-5 years of related experience in benefits and payroll
  • SAP competency in the HR module, more specifically payroll and benefits is essential
  • Solid working knowledge of provincial legislation related to Quebec is essential
  • Experience with large payroll (500+)
  • English [Advanced], French [Advanced]
